Prof. Jane Farrar and team in the School of Genetics and Microbiology and Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience has been awarded a SFI Frontiers for the Future Programme grant to explore development of novel gene therapies for dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a large unmet clinical need affecting approximately ten percent of individuals over 65 years.

In Dublin next week Fighting Blindness is hosting the Retina International World Congress 2024 (RIWC24) chaired by Prof. Jane Farrar. Throughout the science day on June 7 there is a super line-up of global leaders in the field of retinal research including, for example, AAV mediated gene therapies, gene editing and optogenetic approaches, use of AI in disease diagnosis, among many other topics.
